[63. 3 steps to teach numbers, 1st step: Number counting games part 1]

Let’s start with number counting games in order to teach your child about numbers.

  1. First, let your child count numbers up from 1 to 10, then let him/her try from 1 to 20 and from 1 to 30.
  2. Next, parents and their child will count numbers in turn.
  3. Next, parents ask their child “What comes after 1?” “What is after 2?” This game will become a foundation for addition.
  4. When your child become good at this game, parents can pick numbers randomly and ask questions, “What is after 3?” “What comes after 8?”. When your child becomes able to play this game, he/she will obtain the idea that the answer of 〇+1 is the number which comes after〇.
  5. Let’s have the game to ask your child the number after the next number. “What is the number after the number after 5?” When Parents keep asking this kind of questions, the child will become able to do addition “〇+2”.

When your child master these games, he/she is ready to build a foundation for subtraction.
