[55. The importance of reading stories to your child even when your child can read on their own.]

Until when parents need to read stories for their child?

It may be bothersome and time consuming to read stories for your child after they know how to read letters on their own.

Parents tend to tell their child to read by themselves at age 7 or so, however this may not help your child develop their reading comprehension skills.

It’s is more beneficial for parents to continue reading stories to their children until age 10.

In addition, story time is a great opportunity for your child to feel love and affection from parents.

Once your child starts going to school, their interests can shift from their parents to their friends, and the bonds between parents and child may weaken.

To strengthen the bond between parents and child, parents are encouraged to use bed time story and remind the child of how much you love them and give them the attention they need.
