SHICHIDA METHOD: 100 wisdoms how to develop your child‘s intellectual ability/七田式・本当の知力をつける100の知恵

[28. Basic Knowledge 5: Quantity]

These are the steps to follow when you teach your child about the concept of quantity.

STEP 1: Many, Much, Small, Little

STEP 2: More, A little more, Half, Which is more, Which is less

STEP 3: Units such as ℓ, g, ㎝, m

When children have a lot of experiences to learn quantity, they will be good at mathematics.

Children can learn quantity in daily life such as, while pouring milk in glasses and parents ask “which glass has more milk?”, ”Let’s split it in half.” and “Pour a little more, please.”

When parents take your child to the supermarket and a good training is to let him/her experience seeing or feeling how big a “200 g of meat” is or how tall a “1 ℓ of milk jug” is.

These experiences will be a great start for your child to become good at mathematics later.
