SHICHIDA METHOD: 100 wisdoms how to develop your child‘s intellectual ability/七田式・本当の知力をつける100の知恵

[27. Basic Knowledge 4: Numbers]

Let’s teach numbers to your child in the order as below.

STEP 1: 1, 2, 3

STEP 2: from 4 to 10

STEP 3: from 11 to 100, addition, subtraction

Numbers is one of the concepts which children can learn in everyday life comfortably and naturally.

Let’s use numbers in conversations with your child in every opportunity.

For example, parents can ask your child how many strawberries he/she has when he/she gets the fruits, or parents ask your child how many legs a grasshopper has when he/she sees one in a picture book.

In addition, parents can let children include numbers learning activities when asking for their children’s help with chores around the house.

A great example is when your child has grown up enough to carry dishes, parents can ask their child to help setting the table such as “Please place 3 dishes on the table.” or “Put down 2 chopsticks for each person.”

Using numbers in conversation will help to enhance children’s sense of numbers, and will deepen a relationship between parents and children.
