[20. The 3rd stage of children’s intellectual development – Classification]

Children will develop the ability of classification next, when they has developed the ability of correspondence.

Classification has a variety of sorting like colours, shapes, distinctions from fruits and vegetables.

The basis of classification is to understand the concepts of “SAME” and “NOT THE SAME.”

The ability of classification will develop when children are become able to understand the concept “NOT SAME means DIFFERENT.”

For example, you put one green paper among five red papers and ask you child “Which paper is different?” “Which paper is not the same?”

If your child answers correctly, you can say your child has developed the ability of classification.
