SHICHIDA METHOD: 100 wisdoms how to develop your child‘s intellectual ability/七田式・本当の知力をつける100の知恵

[15. Discovering children’s strengths and develop them to the full extent]

One of the most important duties for parents is to find out and cultivate their child’s abilities.

For example: if your child is interested in insects observation, parents may tend to worry about the child’s academic scores at school.

However, having good scores at school is not the ultimate purpose in a child’s life, or rather the learning of how to start life after graduation should be the purpose of learning at school.

Of course, Study performance is important, but it’s not the only purpose to learn.

Parents shouldn’t decide and choose their child’s strong points, instead they should help the child to discover his or her strengths and even weakness.

Parents also should accept whatever strengths their child has and encourage the child to cultivate it, and not to destroy his/her talent simply because they may not like it, or if the ability is not something that is financially rewarding or popular.

If you are ever in a difficult situation trying to help your child develop his or her strengths directly, parents can try setting up a suitable the environment for your child to develop their strengths.
